Faerun's Spellplague: My Way

Aerials over the tavern

As the party perused their loot within the dragon’s lair, a noise from the cave entrance drew their attention. They turned to find an envoy of ice devils blocking their exit, weapons ready for a fight.
The sorceress hurled a blast globe in the direction of the devils, and the party spread out. The dwarf, Fraud, summoned a gargantuan fiendish spider, which immediately attacked the ice devil leader. The battle now joined, they quickly dispatched the devils, only to pause as the earth quaked.
A abnormally large umber hulk surfaced behind them, and Delwa charged the beast, laying the full force of his blades into its hide.
The beast, infuriated by the attack, laid Delwa low, leaving his corpse bleeding on the ground. Shawna, enraged, attacks the beast.
Meanwhile, Smiling Jack managed to haul a small keg or two from his bag of holding. Suddenly, he appeared beneath the creature, a lit fuse dangling from each barrel.
Fraud, alarmed by the kender’s use of gunpowder in a cavern, races to the stricken shade, heals him, and the shade teleports both the dwarf and Shawna a safe distance away.
The kegs explode beneath the hulk, just as Smiling Jack shadow steps to safety, laughing maniacally.
The party elects to bed down for the night. As they prepare for their repose, Fraud pulls a small blade from his bag of holding, and mutters the words to a wish. Nothing seems to happen, and the next morning they head back to town.
But not before the kender leaves a note, detailing their exact destination, just for fun.

They arrive at the tavern they frequent, and are merrily enjoying their good fortune. Smiling Jack, however, is conspicuously absent.
Suddenly, the streets outside the tavern erupt into screams of terror. A draconian roar is heard overhead, and a bolt of lightning tears through the tavern roof and incinerates a serving wench in a sizzling crackle of energy.
The party is suddenly joined by Jack, and they collectively peer outside to see a gargantuan blue dragon circling the skies over the tavern.
Jack laughs, and fearlessly begins to taunt the beast from the tavern steps. The dragon growls, but does not descend.
The dwarf casts a spell, calming the fearful tavern patrons and the party.
Jack continues to taunt. Shawna raises her crossbow and shoots a fireball toward the circling beast. The fireball errupts harmlessly beside the air born dragon, and the dragon breathes lightning down at the half-drow. She nimbly tumbles away, barely managing to miss the wrath of the dragon’s breath.
Then Jack vanishes, reappearing on the dragon’s back, laughing. The dragon roars, and spirals through the air in attempt to dislodge the diminutive pest. Jack holds on, and climbs towards the dragon’s head.
The dwarf steps to the tavern steps, and releases a furious burst of magical Spellfire at the dragon. The dragon roars in pain, its side seared by the magical flames.
It sweeps its tail over its back, swatting at the kender and dealing him a mighty blow. The fearless rogue crawls along the dragon’s neck, and then drops into the dragon’s open maw.
The dragon attempts to swallow the maniacal man, but Jack lodges a blade in the dragon’s soft mouth. Holding onto the blade with one hand, Jack reaches into his bag of holding, and pulls out a small cask. He tumbles it down the dragon’s throat, then draws another from his magical bag. After tossing several down the dragon’s gullet, the final cask is magically lit, and tossed down. Jack teleports to safety as the dragon explodes in a spectacular rain of parts over the tavern.

A dragon's horde

Continuing from last session, (some day, I’ll actually try and type my notes from previous sessions into this site. Until then, read the character description and try and keep up.)
Smiling Jack, Saelis, and Shawna were awaiting the arrival of Fruad and Delwa at a tavern in the city of Westgate.
Upon arrival at the tavern, Delwa pauses outside, having caught a glimpse of Shawna through an open window. He is noticeably shaken at seeing her. Up until this point, he did not know she was still alive, having left her for dead many years ago. Fraud, in true dwarven fashion, ignores Delwa’s reaction and continues into the tavern for a drink.
While the young shade hesitates on the doorstep, Smiling Jack is observed by all to take sudden notice of the time of day, and dives under the table.
The city, for the past month has been subject to random explosions that collapse random buildings. The source of these explosions is not known to many, though Jack Seems to have inside information on what’s going on.
Delwa, instinctually, dives through the doorway and rolls underneath the same table as a small explosion shakes the tavern and the building across the street collapses into ruin.
As the smoke clears, Delwa rises, dusting himself off. Jack and Fraud notice a figure rise suddenly from a table across the room. Shawna rises, and aims her hand crossbow in the direction of the table where Delwa stands. Delwa starts at the sight of the crossbow leveled at him, and shadow-steps next to the half-drow. Both vanish, leaving the sight of all in the tavern.
A pair of minotaur warriors arrive, and a small bar fight ensues. Jack and Fraud quickly dispatch the trouble-seekers, and resume their activites. Soon, Delwa and Shawna reappear. Whatever quarrel there had been between them seems settled for the time being.
Shawna focuses her attention on Fraud, the party having gathered at a table.
Shawna, the most recent aquaintance in the party, reveals that she may know the location of a dragon’s horde nearby. Her information seems to indicate the lair has been abandoned and unspoiled for a short while.
Smiling Jack had dispatched a Blue dragon awhile back in open combat in a field, but the lair had never been found. The party is intrigued by this money-making proposition, and Shawna agrees to take them to the location as best she can, if they agree to allow her to adventure with them and protect her from a foe who is pursuing her for an item of value she posesses.
An agreement is made, and the party journey toward the nearby Giant’s Run mountains. As they leave the City of Westgate, they note a cloud of demons heading toward the stricken city. Jack disappears, and the rest journey on, leaving the city to its fate.
Jack shortly rejoins them, and they arrive without event at the cavern described by Shawna of Tangled Trees.
The cave intially appears abandoned, but as they enter, they hear the voices of giants in the shadows, discussing the treasure they have found.
Combat shortly begins, and the giants are dispatched, though some party members are not without significant injury.
Loot is gathered, notably a magical flamberge, which Fraud lays claim to.

The story thus far

The story so far…
A Cleric of Talos and a traveling Kender, along with a Tiefling Harper met in the City of Elversult on the Dragon coast. The tiefling asked for aid in investigating a local sect of the Cult of the Dragon, and both the Cleric and the Kender agreed to travel along.

They found the Cult cell in the middle of a ceremony to raise a dracolich. They defeated the Cultists, slew the Dracolich, and began to make their way back to the City of Elversult. As they traveled toward the City, the horizon erupted in a hellish light, and thunderous rumbles were heard . As they continued their long journey, they encountered an envoy from the City of Shade. The kender, upon discovering the envoy was comprised of wizards, immediately lost all form of restraint and slew the envoy, leaving only one wizard who managed to escape. The party then continued their travels, and as they neared the City of Elversult, they found it was under siege, surrounded by and Army of Demons, headed by Orcus, the demon Prince of Undeath, and occupied within by devils, led by the Prince of Hell, Mephistopheles.

The city that had been their base of operation no longer a viable destination, they skirted the city and made for nearby Westgate. They adventured for a brief time in and around Westgate, until Smiling Jack, the kender, managed to inadvertently cause havoc. In his attempt to defeat a displacer beast, a barrel of smokepowder exploded, killing the beast, and setting off a chain reaction that collapsed the sewer system, weakening the foundations of the city, and collapsing many buildings above, including the Market Square.
Upon exiting what was left of the Sewers, the dwarf and the kender met up with an old traveling companion of Fraud the Dwarf’s; a shade known as Delwa. Delwa’s twin, Saelis, who had been a contact for the party, recognized his long estranged brother, and encouraged him to rejoin his old traveling companion.
Jack headed back into town, and the dwarf and Delwa went on to other adventures. Jack proceded to seek out a local tribe of kobolds and spent the next month bestowing his knowledge of small fire arms and smokepowder to the tribe, making them swear to guard the secrets he had taught them, passing them only to other kobolds.
Jack met a half-drow woman named Shawna back in town, and she seemed in search of his acquaintance the dwarf. The dwarf soon appeared… and that is where our adventure log begins…
